Central Foundation wins the Pro Corda’s National Chamber Music Festival 2022

The CFBS String Quartet (Kamal Amoko, Mikael Khaliq-Rattray, Yi Geng and Eduard Marcu) were awarded the National Chamber Music Festival Founders’ Trophy on Sunday 13 March. They were competing in the Finals of the Pro Corda National Chamber Music Festival for Schools, hosted at Millfield School, alongside ensembles from schools such as Westminster, Charterhouse, Sherborne, Godolphin and Sevenoaks, among others.

Additionally, two other ensembles from CFBS also reached the semi-final. A string quartet (Elliott Fossiez-Revenu, Oliver Davy, Kai Hoshino and Henry Kernthaler), and a wind ensemble (Oliver Wright, Alexander Whitamore, Samuel Estifanos, Fred Jacques, James Cumpsty and Sam Lewis).

We are delighted to announce Central Foundation Boys' School as this year’s winners of the National Chamber Music Festival Founders’ Trophy. The work of CFBS is extraordinary. With every boy in the school learning an instrument, they have now commenced their chamber music journey in style. Incredible students to work with in coaching during the Festival and one of their quartets through to the finals! We look forward to a great partnership ahead.

Pro Corda

The Pro Corda Festival is the only national festival to exclusively promote and celebrate chamber music within schools. The festival is a vibrant annual celebration of chamber music education in the UK that is held in January, February and March each year.
