A Level 3D Design
Course Outline
Three-dimensional Design (3D Design) is a stepping stone to the design and architecture industry. It is the perfect course for students that are wanting to study architecture, furniture design, product design, game design, 3D design or engineering.
3D Design is focused around developing student’s ability in all areas of design to fully prepare them for an exciting career in the design and architecture. 3D design offers students the chance to develop their making skills, improve their communication skills and understand how to design and make complex 3D objects. We focus on all aspects of design including 3D sketching, advanced model making, 3D rendering, CAD software, Solidworks, 3D printing, Laser cutting, CNC routing, wood lamination and wood turning.
Year 12 is focused around a series of miniature projects that are designed to build the students skill and confidence in all areas of the workshop including the CAD suite. Students develop a series of portfolios that showcase a broad range of creative and manufacturing processes.
Projects include: architecture of tomorrow, lighting design, wood lamination, toy box, desk accessory, folding furniture and a personal final major project.
All units are delivered by teaching staff who have first class industry experience and are able to ensure a rounded experience that equips students will the skill set for university or equivalent and the ability to work in the design industry.
