Central Futures at Central Foundation Boys’ School’s Sixth Form

Central Futures Career Programme

Central Futures is our careers programme and a large part of this is designed to prepare you for your future beyond Central Foundation Boys’ School. Whether that be continuing your studies at university, looking for an apprenticeship or going straight into employment, we aim to help all students develop the right qualifications, skills and experiences to be successful.

The Central Futures programme will help you to:

  • Identify all of the different career routes available
  • Decide on the best pathway, whether that be university, employment or apprenticeship.
  • Develop the qualifications, skills and experience needed to access university or employment, and be successful.

Access Project

We have on-site support from the Access Project and a link with the world-renowned law firm Slaughter & May. This means that every pupil in our 6th form can apply for 1-1 tuition in their A-levels, totally free of charge. These sessions are taught by Russell group graduates who have a 2-1 or a first-class degree in the subject you would like support with. Beyond that, you have regular academic mentoring sessions to support, guide and motivate. Those outside voices are key to our pupils’ success.

Oxbridge Support

We have dedicated Oxbridge and medicine societies, which provide two years of guidance to position you for success. You receive further mentoring, detailed support with personal statements, mock interviews and the benefit of our partnerships with prestigious private schools Wycombe Girls, who visited us just yesterday and Haberdasher Aske who have been invaluable with their mock interview support for our large number of Oxbridge and Medicine applicants this year. This combination of support means that pupils have consistently gained places at some of the most prestigious universities in the world.

CV and UCAS Support

This support cascades to all 6th formers. Every single student receives 1-1 support with their CVs and their UCAS personal statements. Social mobility is a huge driver for our work and we are determined to level the playing field. All students deserve access to a great education.

Workshops

Part of 6th form life is about gaining clarity on your future plans. We expose you to a huge number of opportunities with workshops lead by professionals in a variety of sectors, access to exciting work experience opportunities and links to summer schools at some of the best universities in the world. We want students who say yes to opportunities because there are plenty of them at this school. By the time you leave us, you will have a confidence and clarity about your future that will give you an edge as you step into adulthood.

Work Experience

All Year 12 students will have access to a high-quality, meaningful work experience placement by the end of Year 12. If you are a student who is pursuing Medicine, then the Central Futures team will ensure you will have access to the necessary work experience to meet the requirements of your university application. Central Futures has links with UCLH and Moorfields Eye Hospital who support us with providing work experience placements for our young people.
