Vocational Courses at CFBS
The vocational pathway offers an additional route for our pupils. Entry requirements are a grade 4 at GCSE. Each course is worth the equivalent of three A-levels. This pathway offers an excellent opportunity for pupils to move on to university, whilst also preparing pupils for apprenticeships and employment.
We offer one vocational pathway at CFBS.
- Business and Digital Media
We offer a mixture of L3 BTEC and L3 CTEC courses.
BTEC is the vocational offering from EdExcel and Cambridge Technical (CTEC) is the offering from OCR, i.e., it’s OCR’s offering of a vocational qualification.
BTEC and CTEC courses are designed as vocational (specialist work-related) qualifications and cover a range of sectors. They are both equivalent courses offered by different exam boards. In the same way GCSEs can be offered by different exam boards.
They are graded using a Pass (P), Merit (M), Distinction (D) and Distinction* (D*) scale; the number of these grades you receive will depend on the size of your course.
Each type of course is a vocational course and they are provided by different exam boards. OCR provide CTEC courses and Edexcel provided BTEC courses.
Each of our pathways provides you with the opportunity to receive 3 A level Equivalent grades and therefore UCAS points to go onto further education or an apprenticeship.
You will choose one pathway and spend your time working towards the qualifications outlined further below.
