Course Outline

Over the two years of this challenging and demanding course you will study chemistry in a contemporary context. You will be involved in a wide range of practical and theoretical work developing your understanding of the relevance of science beyond the laboratory and gaining practical and data analysis skills you will need to study science at higher levels.

You will study aspects of chemistry that are often in the media and affect our lives. It is important that students have the necessary knowledge and understanding to explain many different aspects of the world around them through contemporary chemistry. These areas include: climate change, green chemistry, pharmaceuticals and chemistry research.

The qualification covers the fundamental key concepts of chemistry needed for progression into higher education and employment.
