On Friday 25th September, a group of Year 9 students enjoyed an exciting visit to the Bank of England where they gained a unique insight into the role the Bank plays in the UK economy.

Students learned about the Bank’s responsibilities, tested their knowledge through quizzes and finished the visit with a tour of the museum. One of the highlights was the opportunity to test their strength by attempting to lift a genuine gold bar, one of only two owned by the Bank.
Experts from the Bank of England have set the students a team challenge designed to build on what they learned during the visit. Over the coming weeks, they will work together on their proposals before presenting their findings to representatives from the Bank.
The visit has given students a valuable insight into the world of economics and finance and has equipped them with the knowledge and confidence needed to tackle the challenge ahead.
