Year 8 Trip to watch Romeo & Juliet at the Globe Theatre

On Friday 6th March, a group of Year 8 students visited the Globe Theatre to watch a matinee performance of Romeo and Juliet. This was a reward trip for their excellent attendance to school.

Every year, in collaboration with Deutsche Bank, The Globe theatre put on a fully funded production of a dynamic Shakespeare production.

In a spectacular, modern dress staging, the warring Montagues and Capulets whizzed around the stage on bikes, stealing each other’s phones. In a nod back to Elizabethan theatre, when women were not permitted to act, Juliet was played by young men. The continuous applause of the Islington schools who packed out this Elizabethan style theatre would have brought the roof down – had there been one, of course!
