Year 8 Personal Project Conference Showcases Creativity and Scholarship

On Tuesday 5th May, our Year 8 pupils proudly presented their work at the Personal Project Conference, held in the sports hall. The event celebrated a term of dedication, creativity, and independent thinking, as pupils shared their projects with staff and governors. It forms part of the Central Baccalaureate, a unique programme which delivery is supported by a generous donation from the Hearn Foundation.

Over recent weeks, pupils have been developing their personal projects with impressive commitment. During form time, they produced a written essay on a topic of their choice, demonstrating thoughtful research and reflection. Alongside this, in their creative arts lessons, pupils designed and created a supporting poster to communicate their ideas visually.

Students researched a wide range of topics from Yemen to the Caribbean; from dinosaurs and evolution to the Titanic and the Solar System; from the development of languages and literature to the impact of music and architecture; from Football and skiing to Artificial Intelligence and Video Games.

The conference provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to present their work in a professional setting, speak confidently about their ideas, and engage with questions from visitors. The quality of work on display was excellent, highlighting both the depth of thinking and the creativity of the cohort.

This achievement reflects the strong support and guidance provided by Ms Bennett, Head of Year 8, whose leadership has been instrumental throughout the process. We also extend our thanks to form tutors for their consistent encouragement during form time, and to the Creative Arts team for helping pupils bring their ideas to life in poster form.

It was a pleasure to welcome governors to the event, who we hope were highly impressed by the pupils’ confidence, enthusiasm, and the standard of work produced.

The conference was a fantastic celebration of pupil achievement and a testament to the hard work of both students and staff – thank you to all involved!
