Year 8 Football Team vs All Saints – London Cup Semi-Final

Our Year 8 football team carried real confidence into this London Cup semi-final, following their impressive 3–1 victory in the Islington & Camden Cup Final just a week earlier. Facing a strong All Saints side at Market Road, the boys knew they would need to be at their very best.

Central started on the front foot, creating a number of early chances and forcing the All Saints goalkeeper into a string of excellent saves. The breakthrough came through relentless pressing from Cole and Ethan, with Cole winning the ball high up the pitch and feeding George, who showed great composure to whip a finish into the near post from just inside the area. A deserved lead at 1–0.

All Saints responded by pushing higher up the pitch, but Central remained disciplined, compact, and organised throughout. The standout moment before half-time nearly saw George double the lead with a spectacular effort, only for the goalkeeper to tip his strike onto the crossbar.

The message at half-time was clear—build on the performance and find a second goal to create breathing space.

The second half began brightly, with further opportunities falling to Ethan and Cole, but neither could convert. Despite this, Central’s game management was outstanding. The team pressed with intensity, closed down space quickly, and denied All Saints any rhythm on the ball. Asa, largely untroubled in goal, dealt confidently with the few moments that came his way, including a couple of late corners.

A composed and disciplined performance saw the boys close out the match and secure a clean sheet.

Congratulations to all of the boys involved. A worthy win and our second semi-final victory in the London Cup in two days following the Year 10 win yesterday.
