Year 8 Careers Assembly – where can Maths take you?

On Wednesday 22nd January, our Year 8 students heard from the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP) about all of the future career pathways that use the skills and knowledge gained from studying Mathematics.

Our Year 8s heard how Maths can be used in design roles such as animation and games design, how algorithms are needed to enhance our cyber security, the importance of statistics for sports commentators who are analysing a football match, and how the problem solving and analytical skills gained from Maths are integral within the legal sector.

Every day in school our young people are developing the key essential skills that will support them in accessing a wide range of pathways and our guest careers speakers are able to bring this to life by identifying direct links between what students are learning every day to how this can relate to a job role.
