Year 7 Problem Solving Day at Escape Plan in East London

Through a new partnership between Central Foundation Boys’ School and The Hall School, a group of our Year 7 students were invited to attend a Problem Solving Day at Escape Plan in East London.

The day began with a series of table-based challenges that required students to work together to solve complex problems. These activities tested a range of skills, including communication, teamwork, strategic thinking, leadership, and resilience. It was fantastic to see students from both schools collaborating, sharing ideas, and supporting one another to overcome the various challenges.

After lunch, the students were split into mixed groups of six and took part in a number of Escape Room experiences. Each room presented a unique scenario where students had to search for clues, decipher codes, unlock hidden compartments, and solve a variety of puzzles in order to progress. One challenge, for example, required students to work together to uncover secret messages, locate hidden keys, and piece together evidence to complete a mission before the time limit expired. Success depended on effective communication, careful observation, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

We would like to extend our thanks to The Hall School for inviting us to take part in what was a fantastic opportunity for our young people.

It was wonderful to see students from both schools mixing so positively, building new friendships, and demonstrating the values of teamwork, respect, and perseverance throughout the day. The students were excellent ambassadors for their respective schools and should be extremely proud of how they represented themselves.
