Year 7 Interhouse Cross Country Event

The Year 7 Interhouse Cross Country was a competitive and engaging event, held over the challenging two-lap course at Hackney Marshes in late September. Every student proudly represented their house, with each participant contributing vital points towards their house’s overall score. All 180 students in Year 7 participated in the event.

The event was a display of determination and sportsmanship of the Year 7 students, with all participants completing the race despite the tough terrain. Their dedication was inspiring, and it highlighted the strength of community and teamwork within the houses: Alleyn, Rogers, Wormell, and Gassiot. The event was supported by a group of Year 10 students who were marshalling the event and encouraging their younger peers in to compete.

Race Highlights:

  1. Etienne – Demonstrated outstanding endurance and speed, securing 1st place in the race, earning maximum points for his house.
  2. William – Displayed great perseverance, finishing in 2nd place with a strong finish after a tough battle.
  3. Nehmia – Gave an exceptional effort, finishing 3rd place and ensuring crucial points were earned.

These students deserve special recognition for their performance, but the event was a collective effort from all Year 7 students who completed the course, ensuring that every house benefitted from their participation.

The overall results of the cross country race will soon be tallied to determine the winning house. However, regardless of the final standings, all students can be proud of their efforts and the contributions they have made to their house. Well done to everyone!
