On Monday 23rd May, our Year 7 students competed against Oaklands School in a thrilling cricket match.
After winning the toss, Oaklands decided to bat first on a rather flat looking track. A solid start from their opening pair saw them to 14-0 before Kavandi-Smith nipped one back down the hill and through the gate leading to jubilant scenes. Further wickets from Falconi, Dhoot, Craddock and a run out from Kavandi-Smith restricted the opposition to 81 from their 15 overs.
Despite losing Baltrusaitis early, Central seemed on track to get a well-deserved win with notable contributions from Dhoot, Yonas, Kavandi-Smith & Gil. With 21 required off 3 overs it was the latter two that didn’t quite get us over the line, resulting in a 7 run loss.
A superb effort from the boys who gained a lot of experience from this afternoons fixture. Eight students played their first ever hard ball game of cricket. Special mention to Kavandi-Smith who finished the game with a wicket, a run out and an outstanding effort with the bat
