On Friday 27th February, our Year 7 students celebrated Chinese New Year in their Mandarin lessons through a creative cultural activity.

Students explored the traditions behind the festival before taking part in traditional Chinese paper cutting. Using red paper, they carefully created decorative patterns that symbolise good luck and happiness during the New Year.

They also wrote Chinese New Year greeting cards, practising festive phrases in Mandarin and decorating their cards with traditional symbols such as lanterns and the Chinese character “福” (good fortune).

The activity gave students a chance to learn more about Chinese culture while developing their creativity and language skills.
