Our Year 7s are starting their career journey and over the next few years we are excited to share the various opportunities and pathways that are available to them as they progress through this journey. We began this week by thinking about the labour market, and why engaging with labour market information is important and helpful as our young people consider their future.
Our employer partner, KX Recruit, joined us on Friday 21st March to explain to our students what the labour market is, and how it will impact their own career journeys in the future – we thought about jobs that didn’t exist 20 years ago (uber drivers, influencers, AI engineers) and what might exist in 20 years’ time (AI ethics teacher, virtual reality therapist, commercial space pilot) and made the connection that strong essential skills will help us navigate changing labour markets. When young people build strong essential skills, it supports them in feeling confident to pursue whatever career they are interested in even as new job roles are created.
