Year 7 and 8 Cricket Report

The Year 7 and 8 cricket teams ended the year with 3 excellent fixtures, some strong individual performances and some exciting finishes.

The Year 8 team came out on top by 15 runs against Enfield Grammar School, captain Aadam top-scored with 20 as CFBS put on a 1st innings score of 103. The chase was close the whole way through, but led by Malin’s 2/5 and a brilliant fielding effort Central managed to come out on top.

We took two Year 7 teams to play Latymer, with the B team putting in a great effort, led by Yassin’s 20 runs and Luel’s bowling, but just came up short as Latymer won by 8 wickets. The A team played out a thriller in which a strong Latymer team scored 113 from their 16 overs – Sinit the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets. CFBS seemed to be out of the chase at 35/5, but Willoughby played a superb innings. He hit a superb 41 from only 17 balls, and was the last wicket to fall with Central only 8 runs short of victory in the final over.

We returned to Enfield Grammar with the Year 7 team in the final week of term, and played out another thrilling match. Central batted first and a good team effort saw us post 92 – led by a partnership of 31 between Willoughby and Samir. Sadly, despite some superb bowling – led by Malin’s 3/4 from 4 overs, and some equally good fielding (including a direct hit run out from Saalih), Enfield Grammar won by 3 wickets with an over remaining.

All three fixtures were played in a brilliant spirit, and all the boys who featured represented the school excellently both on and off the field.
