Year 12 Work Experience Week 2026

For students who did not secure a work experience placement, we ran an engaging week of activities focused on both the world of work and post-18 options for around 70 students. They attended one of four workplace insights on Tuesday 30 June, choosing to experience either the world of finance, engineering, digital media/marketing, or life sciences. On these trips students heard from a range of individuals who broke down their role within the company.

Students were also set a work-based task to complete as part of the experience, to get a taste of the skills needed in the professional environment. One example of this piece of work can be seen below from our students who attended DEPT, a digital marketing firm based in the Featherstone Building across the road. Students were tasked with making a new logo using the School’s crest as a basis, and then DEPT kindly compiled all designs into the below gif.

On Wednesday and Thursday, we focused on university pathways, starting the UCAS process and visiting Goldsmiths, University of London, where our students had the chance to explore the campus through a scavenger hunt.

And finally on Friday we wrapped up our post-18 prep with a mock assessment centre in the Hearn Centre Theatre. We discussed the role of tools such as psychometric tests in the recruitment process, and then students took park in a typical assessment centre challenge working in groups to decide on 10 items they would use to survive in the wilderness. Student used their communication, teamwork, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving to agree on a final list of items, after which each group presented their final list and reflected on how they approached the challenge and how they might improve in the future.

We are so proud of our Year 12 students, as they got a taste of the world of work, and the range of opportunities available to them in the future!
