Across the Summer term our students have been working hard to secure their experiences of the workplace, whether that be through our internal school recruitment cycle or using their own networks to secure a placement or experience that best suits their own interests.
To prepare for our work experience week we collaborate with Inspire to deliver our Get Ready for Work Experience workshop. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with a wide range of employers from different sectors and hear about the skills that are essential to being successful in the world of work. Students also set goals for themselves that they wanted to achieve on their work experience placement.
Our Work Experience week took place across week commencing 30 June, with our students attending placements from a diverse and interesting range of sectors including: health and research, the built environment including architecture, engineering and quantity surveying, law, finance and the arts. Our employer partners provide an expansive and enriching programme that allows our young people to get a broad understanding of the various different elements that make the a whole organisation, while also putting their skills to the test. On our placements students are required to complete a work-based project across their placement week, and present this back to their employer at the end of the week.
