On Wednesday 19th October, our Year 12 Design and Architecture students visited the ArcelorMittal Orbit tower in the Olympic park.
They explored Anish Kapoor’s red lattice tower and enjoyed the viewing platform 80m up which provided a distinctive panoramic view of London. Finally, they took the world’s longest slide down to the bottom which lasts for up to 40 seconds. This visit exposed them to some very distinctive local contemporary design and architecture.
The super structure is a great example of engineering, sculpture and architecture.
