On the 15th and 18th September, Central Foundation’s Year 11 Geographers visited Epping Forest to study Loughton Brook, a small tributary that eventually feeds into the River Thames.
Despite the lack of water in the river, caused by this summer’s unprecedented dry weather, students got stuck in and measured the bankfull width and depth. They also analysed sediment characteristics to see changes along the course of the river, and looked at changes to landforms along the river.
