Year 10 Workplace Insight Day during Enrichment Week

Enrichment Week has offered our Year 10 students the opportunity to gain insight into the world of work through our annual Workplace Insight Day on Wednesday 15th July. In partnership with nine employers from our community, groups of 20 students went to spend a half a day in the working environment, speaking to a wide range of professionals about their career journeys and practicing the key skills that are needed in different sectors.

Across all visits students were engaged, curious and enthusiastic – they loved to hear about the different types of work patterns that can be found in the world of work and enjoyed hearing the highlights and challenges our volunteers experienced in their roles. AI was a hot topic in several conversations, and our professionals shared valuable insight to our young people on how it is being used as a tool in their working environment.

Our students also had a chance to practice some of the technical and essential skills that are needed in different working environments – whether that was building a new bridge to span the Thames, pitch a new idea on how to use AI in the workplace, or cable splicing, each activity was a fantastic opportunity for our students to put their skills to the test and reflect on how they can develop in the future.

Thank you to our valued employer partners who supported us in the lead up to and on the day – these experiences are invaluable to our young people and will support them in making informed decisions about their career journeys!
