Year 10 Work Insights Visits

During Activities Week, our Year 10 students visited a wide range of workplaces to explore career possibilities and opportunities as part of our Central Futures provision. These included:

  • Lendlease Project Office – market-leading integrated real estate business which purpose is to create places where communities thrive
  • KMPG – a global network of professional firms providing Audit, Tax and Advisory services
  • The Royal College of Physicians – an independent patient-centred and clinically led organisation, that drives improvement in the diagnosis of disease, the care of individual patients and the health of the whole population both in the UK and across the globe
  • Urban MBA – an edtech business hub providing a space that empowers education entrepreneurs to begin and develop their enterprise journeys
  • Blinkink – a world-class, London-based production studio
  • Etude – a team of sustainability engineers working in energy policy, low energy building design and environmental assessment through all stages of construction and operations.

Thank you to  the organisations for opening their doors to our students and giving them such invaluable insights into such diverse career paths.

Those that visited the Lendlease Project Office had an eye-opening experience that left them all inspired by the possibilities of sustainable engineering. The students were introduced to a world where cutting-edge design meets environmental responsibility.

The Lendlease Project Office is a paragon of modern architecture, blending form and function seamlessly. The ingenuity of the building’s design lies in its commitment to sustainability. From the moment of arrival, it was evident that every aspect of the construction was meticulously planned to minimise environmental impact.

The tour highlighted several innovative features, such as the advanced water recycling systems and the use of renewable energy sources. The building’s façade, which incorporates natural ventilation and abundant natural light, not only enhances energy efficiency but also creates a pleasant and productive environment for its occupants.

Meeting deadlines is crucial in the construction industry, and seeing how the Lendlease team stays on track while maintaining such high standards of sustainability was truly inspiring.

Zein, Year 10.

They were particularly impressed by the potential outcome of a green roof, which not only insulates the building but also supports biodiversity. This clever integration of nature into the urban setting serves as a living demonstration of how urban spaces can contribute to ecological health.

Overall, the visit to the Lendlease Project Office was an invaluable learning experience. It showcased the potential of sustainable engineering to transform the way we build and live, inspiring our students to think critically about our environmental impact and the future of urban development.
