On 17th June, 15 Central Foundation Year 10 Triple Science students took part in an exciting full-day practical session at the University of Oxford Chemistry Teaching Laboratory. The students were stretched and challenged as they explored advanced chemical concepts and unfamiliar laboratory apparatus.

During the session, they synthesised an antibacterial compound and analysed its chemical composition using thin layer chromatography and mass spectrometry—an invaluable hands-on experience that deepened their understanding of real-world chemistry.
