On Wednesday 19th July, the Spanish and Food Technology departments delivered a Spanish Tapas workshop as part of Activities Week.
Year 10 Spanish students learnt about the origins of Tapas and typical dishes from Andalucía including Ms Calahorro’s home town of Jaén. They had the chance to review food vocabulary and practice their listening comprehension skills before cooking a Spanish omelette (Tortilla Española).
Students prepared a typical Spanish omelette using copious amounts of olive oil and Ms Calahorro was on hand to expertly flip the pan at the end to form a perfectly cooked omelette.
They had the chance to sample their culinary delights at the end of the workshop and acquired some new idiomatic expressions such as, “le damos la vuelta”.
