Year 10 Football ABCD vs City of London

On Tuesday 3rd February, Central Foundation took four football teams and 52 Year 10s to take on City of London in our latest block fixture.

A Team

A sluggish start, but the A Team limited the ISFA quarter-finalists to very few clear chances. A moment of real quality in the first half fell to Albert, who perfectly lobbed the goalkeeper from 35 yards to give Central a 1–0 lead — arguably against the run of play.

A wonderful header from Isaiah, followed by a neat finish from Macdavid, sealed a convincing 3–0 win in what was a very competitive encounter. A perfect preparation ahead of the Middlesex Cup quarter-final against Bishop Ramsey.

B Team

A real thriller for the B Team. City of London went 1–0 up despite a brilliant penalty save from Naseem, before Central responded with three unanswered goals. A superb display of counter-attacking football saw us take control of the game, with Bobby scoring twice and Constantine adding a third.

As the match opened up in the second half, we began to fade and City of London capitalised, with the final score finishing 6–4. Ashley managed to grab our fourth goal late on.

An entertaining game overall, but some defensive work to focus on for the Bs going forward.

C Team

A strong C Team performance saw us fall 1–0 behind before responding with three well-worked goals. A dominant and spirited display followed, with a set-piece goal from Zakariya, alongside strikes from Yacoub and Teddy, ensuring we came away with a deserved win.

D Team

An inexperienced but enthusiastic D Team took on a well-organised and experienced City of London side. Despite a 7–1 defeat in the pouring rain, the boys worked incredibly hard throughout. A valuable learning experience and great to see them smiling right until the final whistle.

Jakub grabbed the consolation goal for the boys in red.

Next block fixture is versus Wetherby at the end of March.
