On Wednesday 13th September, our Year 10 GCSE Drama students went to the New Diorama Theatre to watch award-winning Company 3’s performance of “#BlackIs”.
The exhilarating and educational show starred one of our current Sixth Form students and Mackenzie, an alumni. The show was entirely led by ten teenagers who share the joy of black relatedness, their experience of racism and the reality behind the preconceptions.
It was a joyful evening filled with comic as well as heartfelt moments. The young actors created a performance based on their own life experiences, revealing how joy and trauma can coexist along side one another. It was a great evening that provided a platform for the young peoples’ voices and unique stories.
