On Monday 22nd April, a group of year 8 students took a trip to the London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) in Clerkenwell to discover more about the hidden stories of our city. Students participated in a workshop run by the LMA team, discussing the different ways the people and the events of London have been documented over the centuries. After this, students visited the Archives’ Unforgotten Lives exhibition which highlighted stories from often unheard and underrepresented communities.
The trip was then followed by an in-school workshop delivered by the Speakers Trust on Wednesday 24th, where students discussed their learnings and the connections they may have made to the stories they heard.
The workshop culminated in each student giving a speech reflecting on the events and the people of London they heard about.
