Winter Concert 2024

The term finished with our annual Winter Concert and it was a sell-out! The Great Hall was dressed up in festive decorations and the atmosphere was truly special.

Over 160 students performed in the concert to an audience of over 300 people. The music provision, now housed in our new Creative Arts Centre, has been generously supported by various organisations including Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST), Restore the Music, The Dulwich Estate, The Hearn Foundation and The Roy Bard Foundation. A team of 12 music tutors provides individual and group tuitions, all free of charge, in a range of musical instruments and voice.

The quality of the performances at the Winter Concert and the student leadership in them was exceptional. There were twelve different groups performing pieces ranging from Karl Jenkins to Oasis, they included:

  • Year 7 orchestra performing Central Winter/Sleigh Slay, an original piece by CFBS
  • String orchestra – Palladio – Karl Jenkins
  • MiSST orchestra – Fossiles – Camille Saint-Saens
  • Wind Ensemble & Drum Ensemble – Afro Blue – Mongo Santamaria
  • Choir – Human – Rag’n’Bone Man
  • Friday Guitar Club – Rumble – Link Wray
  • Year 10 Band & Alfie – Don’t Look Back in Anger – Oasis
  • Fretwrx & Isaac – To Cut a Long Story Short – Spandau Ballet
  • House Band & Sammy – Crazy – Gnarls Barkley
  • Jazz Band – Mercy, Mercy, Mercy – Joe Zawinul // Time Limit – Casiopea

It was a truly special night that ended our autumn term.
