On Wednesday 29th January, 120 Year 9 and 10 students participated in Round 2 of the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Maths Challenge. UKMT is established to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. UKMT aims to achieve this in particular, but not exclusively, by organising and running mathematics competitions.
In addition to maths being taught as part of the compulsory curriculum, Central Foundation offers co-curricular maths activities after school such as MESME – Identifying Higher Potential Mathematicians club for Year 7s, AXIOM Identifying Higher Potential Mathematicians for Year 8 and 9, and UKMT Maths Challenge.
Maths A level course is the most oversubscribed course at the Central Foundation 6th Form.
