Trinity Laban’s Sinfonia Strings’ visit and performance with Central Foundation students

On Friday 15th November, our music students were treated to a visit from Sinfonia Strings – an string orchestra made up of 1st and 2nd year students from Trinity Laban. Sinfonia Strings spent the morning rehearsing side-by-side with students from Central Foundation, preparing a piece to be performed to students from across the school later in the day. This experience allowed our young musicians from across all the different year groups in the school to hear and play with students that are working at degree level and be part of a rehearsal that produced music at this level. The rehearsal was led by Nick Pendlebury, Trinity’s Head of Strings, who was able to provide our students with coaching and direction at the very highest level of musicianship.

There was then a performance led by Trinity’s Outreach team, as well as Nick, which was played to a wide range of Music School students. The concert consisted of music by Price, Mozart and Grieg, chosen to demonstrate the different instruments of the ensemble and the different ways in which they can play together.

This was a great listening opportunity for all our students, in particular our Y11s, who were able to answer and ask questions that support their listening GCSE exam paper. The highlight of the concert for us, was being able to hear our amazing string players playing side-by-side with all the incredible players from Trinity.

All in all it was an incredible opportunity for our musicians and our thanks go out to everyone on the Trinity team that made it possible!
