Central Foundation’s recent sports fixtures have seen fantastic participation and many successes across football, athletics, cross-country, basketball, badminton, table tennis, and more. The football teams have been especially active, competing in cup competitions and friendly fixtures against opponents such as Forest, Highgate, Chigwell, and City of London. With six teams participating across year groups, the competitive spirit is thriving. Year 7 through Year 10 teams have earned their spots in the upcoming Islington & Camden 6-a-side finals, a promising step forward in their season.
In athletics, Year 7 pupils shone in the indoor competition, showcasing their speed and agility. With an impressive six wins out of eight races on day two of the event, they clinched 2nd place overall—an inspiring achievement for the budding athletes and a testament to their hard work.

Year 7 Interhouse Cross Country Event
The cross-country season has also kicked off with Year 7’s strong interhouse participation, where all students took part, showing a schoolwide commitment to fitness and endurance. Our runners have already claimed the top position in the opening Islington Running League race and placed within the top three in the English Schools Championship’s first round, demonstrating their potential in regional competition.
Basketball has seen high attendance at training sessions, with Year 8 and Year 9 playing intense, close games against Acland Burghley. Similarly, in badminton, our Key Stage 3 and 4 teams competed in the Islington tournaments, with KS3 winning first place and KS4 taking second. Table tennis is also gaining popularity, as our KS3 team recently achieved second in the Islington tournament.
Across all sports, interhouse events, especially football, have shown excellent participation. Other clubs, including fencing, swimming, and rowing, report strong attendance, highlighting a positive school culture around physical activity and teamwork. The season’s early successes signal an exciting year ahead for our athletes.
