Message from the Safeguarding Team

Dear Families, as the days grow shorter, we kindly remind you to speak with your child about being mindful when out in public—particularly avoiding the visible use of phones or valuables during their journey to and from school.

If your child ever feels unsafe or threatened, they are encouraged to seek support by entering a nearby shop or business. Many local establishments are part of Islington’s “Safe Haven” scheme and are there to provide a safe space when needed.

You can find a map of Safe Haven locations at the link below. It may be helpful to identify a few that are most convenient along your child’s usual route.

Thank you for your continued support in helping to keep our young people safe.

Warm regards,
The Safeguarding Team

Sunflower Domestic Violence Group Recovery Programme:

This is an 11-week programme for children/young people that have experienced domestic violence/abuse.  The programme addresses the root causes of DVA, explores naming the spectrum of DVA, its impact on children and young people, empowerment & positive coping strategies, gender stereotypes, help-seeking, and advice regarding accessing therapeutic support, as well as exploring future hopes and aspirations that the young people may have.  The young people do not have to talk about their personal experiences of DVA, but can do, if they chose to (see attached leaflet).  The sessions build gradually, so as not to overwhelm the participants, and we work closely with the Pastoral Team to ensure that the young people feel safe and comfortable in each session.

If you would like your young person to be part of this, please email our Designated Safeguarding lead, Ms Chawluk : chawluka@cfbs.islington.sch.uk
