Dear Parents and Carers,
As we reach the end of another term, I would like to thank you all for your continued support as we work together in partnership to nurture our students.
Our focus is to create a community that supports all of our young people to flourish. An important part of that is the co-curricular opportunities that the students engage in. This newsletter highlights the wide range of these activities that our students have participated in.
A key aim of these activities is to provide the students with opportunities to learn from each other and enjoy working together. I have seen the joy the students have in being part of ‘something’ together in so many of the activities; a particular highlight were the house cooking competitions where the students worked in groups to prepare many delicious dishes.
There have also been some remarkable performances in the areas of sport and music. In music, six of our quartets qualified for the semi-final of the schools national chamber music competition, with one of our quartets making it through to the final placing them in the top 5 quartets in the country. In sport, a Central Foundation team became national champions in the national indoor rowing championships in which over 200 schools and boat clubs took part – we had a further three teams in the top ten across the year 7 and 8, and years 9 and 10 categories.
With all of our activities we believe that excellence and participation are not exclusive – but sit side by side. Our commitment is to all of our young people engaging in activities that bring joy to them, whilst allowing many to strive for excellence.
I hope you enjoy the newsletter and my very best wishes to all of our families for the holiday period.
Best wishes,
Mr Brownhill
