The Languages department linked up with Central Futures to run a lunch event for year 11 languages students with guest speakers from Allianz Global Investors. The speakers, who work in different areas of Allianz including sales, business development and infrastructure, all have a background in languages or speak multiple languages.
Students enjoyed listening to their experiences of language learning, living and working abroad and how they use languages in their career. A couple of our speakers were unable to join us in person including the Global Chief Financial Officer who spoke to the students from his office in Frankfurt via MS teams.
Students asked some interesting questions about the value of languages in British based businesses and advice on how to further their language learning. It was an enriching and motivating experience for students and the French-inspired lunch was particularly popular!
