KS3 House Chess Competition

The KS3 House chess competition that took place on the afternoon of Thursday 29th January was a nail-biter right up until the final seconds. Grudges lingered from last year’s tournament and new ones were ignited!

Over 40 students competed across forms and year groups in knockout games. Plus a few who tagged along to play for fun! Standout performances:

  • Yan (Year 7) won 3 games and was the last standing Year 7 competitor.
  • Zain (Year 7) gracefully and frustratingly had a tough resignation against Jayden (Year 9).
  • Zephyr (Year 8) won every game he played- an incredible competitor! He played Rion (Year 9) which ended in a stalemate.

The final match boiled down to Zephyr (Year 8) and Levi (Year 9).

With technicalities and timing constraints, it was impossible to crown a winning form.

Therefore, 1st place will be joint between E and R, with 3rd place to L.

There were so many wonderful interactions and mature game play from everyone involved. Thank you to all the House Captains and Samuel, our School Captain, who were able to keep the peace, settle disputes and give some helpful advice!
