This week, Islington’s Youth Councillors attended a meeting held in the parlour at the Town Hall with Madam Mayor Councillor Anjna Khurana.
During the meeting, the Youth Councillors provided details of the priorities which they will be focusing on during their 2-year term in office and an update on what they have achieved since the election.
- Completed a 6-week induction, aimed at giving us skills and knowledge to support us in our role as elected councillor.
- Supported Mangers from the School Wellbeing Service to design an info sheet for in order to promote their service to children and young people.
- Supported Islington’s Official School Reps with the school attendance survey which had over 3500 response.
- Voted to elect our Young Mayor, Deputy Young Mayor, Member of London Youth Assembly and the Member of UK Youth Parliament.
- Taken part in a photoshoot and met with a film maker to start planning and production of the next Youth Council Film.
- Asked Youth Council Questions on behalf of the boroughs young people to Council Leaders at the Full Council Meeting.
- Attended the International Women’s Day Islington Walk.
- The Young Mayor appeared in the recent National School Magazine and appeared in the “Movers and Shakers” feature.
