On Friday 24th February, our GCSE Music students enjoyed a trip to the Barbican Centre, to listen to a performance by the world-famous London Symphony Orchestra.
Students were treated to a range of film music, from scores of the golden-age of cinema, like King-Kong and the Seahawk, to modern-day masterpieces by the like of John Williams and Hans Zimmer. All the pieces were accompanied by film excerpts and explanations by members of the LSO’s team and will be a great help in preparation for the upcoming listening exams, which feature two whole questions on film music.
