On Tuesday 21st March, 10 lucky Year 9 students travelled to the Curzon cinema in Soho to enjoy a special event focused on the important issues of hate, intolerance and violence, organised by the Mayor of London’s Office.
The boys got to hear from some inspirational speakers including award winning film maker and YouTuber Humza Arshad. Humza’s award winning short film HATE was screened and the boys engaged in a special workshop on Global Acts of Unity.
Arif and Aweis reflected on their learning from the event: “We learnt that no matter who you are, everybody is capable of hate but if we can show empathy and forgiveness, we can overcome hate. Hate can lead to terrible consequences but kindness will always overcome hate. We liked meeting Humza, who listened to our opinions. He was full of humour and inspired us to eliminate hate!”
