On Wednesday 19th July, our GCSE Drama students headed down to the Southbank where they went on a tour of Shakespeare’s Globe theatre. They were lucky to observe some final rehearsals for their upcoming Macbeth performance. Students then participated in an engaging workshop which included some exercises around status and text work linked to a scene in Romeo and Juliet.
Students travelled back across the river to the Almeida Theatre in Islington to watch the matinee performance of Romeo and Juliet. This was a very intense and captivating performance featuring incredible choreography, a stage full of flickering candles and an impressive performance by Toheeb Jimoh as Romeo, who the students all recognised from the hit TV series Ted Lasso.
Many thanks to both the Globe and the Almeida theatre for hosting our students, this was a very memorable day.
