Frankly Speaking Public Speaking Competition at the US Embassy

On Thursday 5th February, a group of Sixth Form students visited the U.S. Embassy in London to take part in the Frankly Speaking Public Speaking Competition, an inspiring event that brought together students from schools across London and beyond.

The day began with opening remarks from the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Warren Stephens, before students took part in a series of competitive speeches focused on the role of open and frank dialogue in modern democracy.

Our students were also proud to be supported by Dawud (Year 12), who represented the school as a speaker. The competition challenged participants to think critically, speak confidently under pressure, and engage with themes of leadership, democracy, and public speaking at an international level.

The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for students to experience a formal diplomatic setting, develop their oracy skills, and gain insight into global democratic values — an unforgettable and enriching experience for all involved.
