We are delighted to announce that our Year 11 students made it through to the finals of the Ambassador’s debate at the US Embassy on Wednesday 28th February.
Competing against a range of schools from across London, George and Kelvin (Year 11) skilfully debated on topics including: ‘tourism is beneficial to environment’ as well as ‘some topics in history are more important than others’.
Although they didn’t quite succeed in winning the judges over in the final round, George was awarded a medal for his excellent public speaking skills.
A huge well done to Dawud and Mazen who represented the school brilliantly in the Year 10 category, carefully considering the opposition’s arguments and challenging with rebuttal.
Ivan and Mylo also supported the event fantastically with their invigilation skills, supporting both debaters and judges in the running of the heat stages.
A massive thank you to Benjamin Franklin House for the organisation of the event – we hope to return next year to claim the title of Junior champions!
