After comfortably qualifying for Round 2 of the English Schools Athletics Association competition, our Junior and Inter Boys teams had high hopes of going one step further and reaching the National Final — a feat that would have marked a historic first for the school.
The standard of competition was exceptional, with some of the most decorated athletics schools in the country on show.

Max L (Inter Boys) delivered a standout performance, winning the 1500m in style against a highly competitive Year 10 field.
Zak (Inter Boys) impressed with a 2nd-place finish in the long jump, while Joshua secured 3rd place.
In the Junior Boys’ category, Rory claimed 1st place in the shot put, adding to his remarkable year, having already finished 2nd in the country at the National Junior Rowing Championships.
Edward (Junior Boys) also put in an impressive performance, finishing 3rd in the 800m with a strong and determined run.

Despite a strong collective effort, neither team progressed to the national final. However, the boys gained invaluable experience competing at such a high level, which will no doubt serve them well in future competitions.

Athletics at Central Foundation continues to grow from strength to strength, and with a specialist distance coach joining the team in September, we’re confident that even greater success lies ahead.
