On Friday 2nd December, our News Views project students from Year 9 and Year 12 were treated to a two-hour workshop with writer Isley Lynn, who is currently under commission to The Donmar and is writing a new musical with Emmy The Great and Tom Hughes.
Her new play THE SWELL was recently announced as part of Tom Littler’s first season at the Orange Tree Theatre. In October 2021, Isley’s acclaimed play ALBATROSS was remounted at the Playground Theatre in London. She also recently wrote one of 15 monologues performed in the Jermyne Street Theatre’s production 15 HEROINES. Another new work, REVOLUTIONS, is currently in development with support from Old Vic New Voices, the Michael Grandage Company and the Arcola Lab.
Isley led a fantastic workshop with our young writers, helping to investigate their passions, ideas and lending her experience to help students find a starting point for their own plays to be entered into the National Theatre’s nationwide competition next year.
