On Wednesday 26th April, 18 Year 7 and Year 8 students had the opportunity to watch The Secret Life of Bees at the Almeida Theatre.
Based on the best-selling novel by Sue Monk Kidd, the musical is set in 1964, South Carolina. Rosaleen is fighting for her right to vote, and Lily is escaping her violent father. When this unlikely pair flee their small town, they seek salvation at a remote honey bee farm run by the remarkable Boatwright sisters.
The performance dealt with difficult themes of racism and abuse experienced in America during the 60’s, incredible performances from a spectacular cast and splendid set designs! The students were engrossed in the plot and enjoyed the music and choreography. Thank you to the Almeida Theatre for donating the tickets to our school!
