On Wednesday 5th November, a group of Year 7 – 10 students attended the launch of the Debate Mate programme in Westminster. This inspiring event marked the start of this year’s Debate Mate journey, which will continue with weekly after-school sessions every Wednesday.
The launch featured an impressive introductory video, opportunities for our students to network with potential debating competitors, and a lively showcase debate on the motion “This house would ban short reels from social media platforms.”
Throughout the year, participants will develop their debating skills through coaching from a professional mentor and will go on to compete in the Urban Debate League against schools from across the country.
Debate Mate sessions take place every Wednesday after school from 3:20–4:30pm in LB08.
