This half term a Central Foundation team competed in The Stratford & East London Music Festival 2025 and all won in their respective categories.
The Stratford & East London Music Festival was founded in 1882, making it the UK’s oldest music and drama festival. It has continued to grow in popularity since that time.
THe festival is affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech (BIFF).
Many musicians and actors can trace the start of their careers from success at the Stratford & East London Music Festival.
The Stratford & East London Music Festival usually runs across two weeks in February.
Felix and Cillian, both Year 7 students, won first place trophies for the duologue 12 years and under category.
Mazen and Mylo, our Year 11 students, won first place in ‘duologue 13 years and over’ category as well as the overall festival trophy, awarded for the most outstanding Speech and Drama performance in the 11-18 age group, as decided by the adjudicator. Mazen also won the Solo Acting Award for 13 years and over. Mylo’s and Mazen’s performances were exceptional, and they also received an additional prize of £100 in further recognition of their achievement.
The judges described the CFBS students as “a breath of fresh air”, and they were impressed with them bringing a new level of performance to the competition’. This was our first time entering the festival. We look forward to making it an annual event.
