In July, a group of students participated in CFBS Music Summer School. The students were given three days of intensive musical activity, challenge and collaboration, and they embraced every minute of it. Their enthusiasm, focus and willingness to throw themselves into new experiences were a real credit to them.
Throughout the week, students tackled demanding repertoire based around this year’s theme of irregular metre, explored new musical concepts through the Synth Collective, blues improvisation and live film soundtracking, and worked hard on a range of chamber music projects. The musical progress they made in just three days was truly impressive.
Of course, it wasn’t all hard work. they also managed to fit in the World Cup matches, plenty of football and frisbee, and a surprisingly competitive game of rounders.
Their stay finished with a wonderful sharing performance that showcased everything the students had achieved during their time together in the beautiful surroundings of Leiston Abbey.
