CFBS Alumnus, Baba Oke kickstarts the CFBS KS5 Lecture Series

On Wednesday 21st January, Baba Oke, a former CFBS student, came in to talk to our Year 12 students in our University Preparation Lessons (UPL) programme. Baba talked about his experience of applying to and studying Economics and Management at Oxford University, and about how he began his career in finance. Baba answered questions from the students about how to assemble and successful application and provided valuable insights into his personal experiences. The students benefitted hugely from this, particularly from a CFBS alumnus, and we are very grateful to Baba for giving up his time.

Lectures

The CFBS KS5 lecture series resumes this term, with a lecture from our own Mr Haylor! Last term students attended talks from a vast range of both internal and external speakers, including a robotics engineer, a romance novelist, and a professor of American history, as well as talks from teachers on topics such as apartheid and methods of treating cancer.

Coming up this term, we have the following talks:

  • Mr Haylor: Money, Money, Money: How Much Do Musicians Make?
  • Ms Akdag: Gender Bias in Everyday Research
  • Amy Smith – NHS Radiotherapy Physicist
  • Mr Russell: Neoliberalism
  • Mr Gricia: Apartheid and the Social and Political Implications, Part 2
