Central Futures Mentoring: Kick-off briefing for students

The Summer Term will mark the 8th year of running our Central Futures Mentoring Programme. This programme aims to connect sixth form students with corporate volunteer mentors to support our young people consider their next steps after KS5. Our students will enter the programme in the Summer Term of Year 12, and then continue working with their mentor as they move into Year 13 and finalise their applications to university or prepare for applications to higher and degree apprenticeships.

Students meet with their mentor at the mentor’s place of work, offering our young people the opportunity to better understand their options after sixth form, but also develop key essential skills that will support them in the future while they get a taste of the world of work. Mentoring pairs will discuss the various post-18 pathways, consider ways in which students can gain experiences through social and cultural engagement, and prepare for the application cycles of their chosen pathway. This year we have 30 Year 12 students who will participate in the programme and we look forward to seeing the progress they make.

The School are proud to partner with Slaughter and May, AllianzGI and Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) for our Mentoring scheme. Our corporate volunteer mentors commit a tremendous amount of time to this programme and are an invaluable source of support and encouragement to our students as they navigate their options at post-18. We are excited to work alongside our partners again this year in delivering an invaluable experience to our young people.
