Central Foundation Wins the Debate It! Competition Finale at Hogan Lovells

On Monday 6^th July, a group of Year 7 students represented Central Foundation in the final Debate It! competition of the year, organised by Hogan Lovells. Over the past nine months, students have worked weekly with volunteers from the law firm to develop their debating, public speaking and critical thinking skills through the Debate It! programme.

The competition took place at Hogan Lovells’ UK headquarters on the 11th floor, with spectacular views across the City of London. Throughout the day, students participated in three challenging debates, tackling topics including the age at which compulsory education should end, careers in social media, and whether the Prime Minister should be chosen by lottery.

After an exciting day of competition, our students faced EGA in a closely contested final. We are delighted to announce that Central Foundation was crowned the Debate It! Champions!

The judges were particularly impressed by the high standard of speaking throughout the competition. Callum was praised for his excellent speaking skills, while James stood out for his personable approach and sense of humour, which made a lasting impression on the judging panel.

Congratulations to all of the students who represented the school so brilliantly with confidence, teamwork and resilience. We are incredibly proud of their achievement and look forward to taking part in the programme again next year.

The Debate It! programme will restart in September and will be open to students in Years 7 and 8.
